Product Description
The Quick Mill Rubino Plus Instant Stability is a compact heat exchanger espresso machine designed for home baristas who want the traditional E61 workflow with significantly more sophisticated temperature control. Its defining feature is Quick Mill's Instant Stability technology, which actively heats the E61 brew group using an integrated heating element and dedicated temperature control. This helps the group reach operating temperature faster and maintain greater thermal stability during and between espresso extractions.
Underneath the stainless steel body is a 1.8L insulated stainless steel heat exchanger boiler, allowing espresso extraction and steam production at the same time. PID temperature control lets you adjust the machine's temperature settings, while the OLED display provides information including temperature, extraction time, water level and machine settings. Programmable pre-infusion, Eco mode and Standby mode provide additional control over how the machine operates.
The Instant Stability system is the key difference between this model and a conventional Rubino Plus. The E61 group is actively heated rather than relying solely on the heat exchanger and passive thermal mass of a traditional E61 group. Quick Mill's testing found that the Instant Stability group reached 87.6°C after 12 minutes from room temperature, compared with 62.3°C without active group heating. The system is designed to minimise temperature variation both between consecutive shots and throughout the extraction itself.
Heating System and Brew Architecture
The Rubino Plus Instant Stability uses a 1.8L insulated stainless steel heat exchanger boiler. This two-circuit architecture allows the machine to extract espresso and produce steam simultaneously, making it well suited to preparing milk-based drinks as well as straight espresso.
The major feature of this model is the electrically heated E61 brew group. Instant Stability incorporates an active heating element directly into the group, with temperature monitored and controlled to help the group reach its operating temperature more quickly and remain thermally stable during use.
Instant Stability Temperature Control
Quick Mill's Instant Stability technology is designed specifically to improve the thermal behaviour of the brew group. Unlike a conventional E61 group that relies primarily on the machine's boiler and the thermal mass of the group itself, the Instant Stability system actively heats the group.
The system is designed to reduce the time required to reach an appropriate extraction temperature while maintaining greater consistency between consecutive shots. Quick Mill's internal testing recorded an average temperature variation of only 0.29°C between the 15 and 30 second points of extraction across 10 consecutive shots.
Extraction and PID Control
The Rubino Plus Instant Stability features PID temperature control and an OLED display for monitoring and adjusting the machine's settings. The display provides temperature information, extraction timing, water-level information and access to programmable functions.
Pre-infusion can be adjusted through the machine's controls, allowing the initial wetting of the coffee puck to be tailored to the user's preferred extraction approach. A dual pressure gauge displays both pump and boiler pressure.
Steam and Milk Performance
The 1.8L heat exchanger boiler allows the Rubino Plus Instant Stability to brew espresso and produce steam at the same time. This means you do not need to wait for the machine to change between brewing and steaming temperatures when preparing milk-based drinks.
The machine is fitted with a multidirectional anti-burn stainless steel steam wand and a separate hot water outlet. Ergonomic rotary controls provide control of the steam and hot water functions.
Build Quality and Design
The Rubino Plus Instant Stability features a stainless steel housing and Quick Mill's E61-style brew group with a stainless steel bell. The compact 265mm width makes it particularly suitable for kitchens where bench space is limited.
The machine weighs 20kg and incorporates a stainless steel cup warming area, removable drip tray and dual pressure gauge. The steam and hot water wands use double-wall anti-burn construction for safer handling during everyday use.
Water Source
The Rubino Plus Instant Stability operates from a 3L removable water tank. It does not have a plumbed water connection. An electronic water-level sensor monitors the reservoir, while a separate sensor controls automatic filling of the boiler.
Who Should Consider This Machine
The Quick Mill Rubino Plus Instant Stability is particularly well suited to home baristas who want the traditional feel of an E61 espresso machine but value faster warm-up and more active temperature management than a conventional E61 HX machine provides.
It is a strong option for users who regularly prepare both espresso and milk-based drinks, want to make multiple coffees without waiting between brewing and steaming, and want greater control over extraction temperature. Its compact 265mm width also makes it attractive where kitchen bench space is limited.
The Instant Stability system is the main reason to choose this model over the standard Rubino Plus. If faster group warm-up and active brew-group temperature control are important to you, the Instant Stability version offers a significant technical advantage.
