Most prosumer espresso machines are designed without much regard for bench space. The Appartamento was designed with a small kitchen in mind from the start (the name means apartment in Italian), and at 274mm wide it is one of the most compact E61 heat exchanger machines available. That compact footprint does not come at the expense of build quality. The internals are the same commercial-grade components that appear throughout the Rocket range: copper boiler, 58mm group head, and the E61 group with dual mechanical pre-infusion.
The heat exchanger system lets you brew and steam simultaneously from a single 1.8L boiler. Once the machine is warmed up and you have done a cooling flush after it has been sitting idle, the temperature is consistent and predictable. For someone stepping up from a domestic machine for the first time, this is one of the most complete options at its price point.
The copper version adds warmth to the Appartamento's signature circular side panel design. The copper insert against polished stainless ages well and the look holds its resale value relative to all-stainless equivalents. The latest version also introduces a deeper drip tray for taller cups, RGB LED indicators, and improved internal structure: a refined update to a well-proven design.
