The heating system is the key point to understand. Rather than a conventional dual boiler setup, the MC3 uses a PID-controlled thermoblock with a PTC-heated copper brew group for the espresso side, paired with a dedicated 2.5L steam boiler that can be switched off independently when you only want to brew. That allows simultaneous brewing and steaming and gives the steam boiler enough capacity for multiple milk drinks without recovery lag. Pre-infusion time and flow rate are adjustable independently, so you can slow the initial water contact with the puck to reduce channelling and improve shot evenness. A flow meter enables programmable single and double shot volumes rather than relying on time alone.
The machine runs from a 1.5L water tank or plumbs directly into a water line. The Italian ULKA vibration pump delivers stable extraction pressure and supports direct plumb-in. Walnut wood handles on the portafilter and steam wand, a full-colour circular touchscreen, cup warmer and brew group pressure gauge round out a machine that looks and performs considerably above its price.
